Hello there..
A recent subject of my interest was cosmology; the study of space and beyond, to put it in the easiest of words. To be really honest, this interest wasn't sparked by Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR. But, by a small video.. here.. https://youtu.be/gIbfYsQfNWs
You need to watch the video to really understand the concept further. In short, the summary of that video will be, we are a part of something humongous. Something we cant possibly imagine even if we tried.
Let's try to get that into perspective.
Our Earth is roughly a thousand times smaller than our Sun.
Our Sun, which is actually a star in the Milky way galaxy, is 6-BILLION TIMES (yeah. billion) smaller than one of the largest Suns which scientists have been able to discover. And considering the fact that, we know less of our oceans then of our moon. It's safe to assume, we hardly have seen anything.
Getting back.
And that's just talking about a cluster of the galaxies we have observed.
And there are 200 BILLION galaxies in the observable universe.
What is observable universe now?
Look up in the sky. What you see is observable. Which isn't even a billionth of how big the universe actually is.
And if the hypotheses are to be believed, there may be BILLIONS of universes other then ours. Bigger. Smaller. In other states of matter.
What really matters is, mathematically, it's impossible that somewhere in this existence, there not exists a person that looks exactly like us. Or simply, ANYTHING.
The mere realization, that this existence is way too big. And we are just so small.
All of this is fascinating at best.
But, all we humans care about is attacking Palestine, Paris, Mumbai, New York, Afghanistan; blaming Al-Qaeda, Taliban, ISIS, United States. Our own petty interests; Greed that completely overshadows the larger picture, that is HUMANITY.
And it is us, who are responsible for this chaos. Reasons are plenty. And honestly, solutions are none. Had there been any, it would have been put to use. For once let's consider that a particular group of people are the roots of all the disturbance around. And you choose to bomb them out. But what does that make you? That's right folks;TERRORIST. Because the collateral damage is; INNOCENT HUMANS & HUMANITY.
The thing is that the two parts of this post are miles apart. And so is our perspective on things. Our education system, religious beliefs, upbringing, all come under scrutiny. Where kids are taught things irrelevant, or not even given a go at education. Where our religion is hellbent on proving that indeed humans are special and were CREATED. Where we are taught not to question. Where we blindly follow.
No wonder we haven't discovered life-form outside Earth. ISIS might attack them, claiming that Allah didn't want life to exist anywhere else.
And we?
We will just change our profile pictures.
